Ann Mayburn ~ Daughter of Lust~Guest Reviewer

Those of you who follow my blog might remember a very memorable person who commented on an Erin Nicholas post (CLICK HERE) back in May. Anyway he (yes I said "HE") made such an impression with his comments I had to contact him and see if he might be interested in an interview or even possibly reviewing for me.

Buddha (that's his name) is a very funny man, it was great talking to him. I mean how many men admit they like romance books? And how many can actually hold a conversation about them? it was GREAT and when I asked if he'd be interested in reviewing he said "yes". So we discussed books and what he might like and Ann Mayburn came to mind, I love this women and I love to spread the word about her, he likes the demon aspect so this was perfect!

(For the Love of Evil #1)

Daughter of Lust (For the Love of Evil, #1)

Belal, High Prince of Hell and Keeper of the Deadly Sin Sloth, is expanding his power in the world of the 1800s by trafficking opium. He revels in the results, and as sloth begins to overtake the mortal realm, all of Hell suffers. The balance of power in Hell, as well as the fate of the Universe, will be decided by a half-demon peasant girl.

Natalia Shura, the daughter of Asmodeus, High Prince of Hell and Keeper of the Deadly Sin Lust, is unaware of the nature of her birth. When her demonic side begins to awaken, her world becomes dominated by dark passions and deadly craving, and Natalia believes she is losing her mind. But Natalia's love has been foretold as the only thing that can stop Belal and his allies, and they will do anything to prevent her ascension.

Facing assassins, avenging angels, Hell's deadly politics —and her real father — Natalia must accept the love of more than one man and embrace her demonic heritage as a Princess of Lust. If she doesn't, all that she loves will be destroyed, and Heaven and Hell will plunge into Chaos.

Riveting, Exciting, Sizzling, and Epic. Use all the power words you can think of to describe Mayburn's "Daughter of Lust" and you just might come CLOSE to describing how good this book is. CLOSE. Queen Ann has spun a story that is charming, fantastical, deadly, historically accurate, and truly enjoyable. The characters become like your own personal friends. Their enemies become your enemies. Their blood spilled feels like your blood spilled. Exceptional characters.

Now for the what your really want to know about......the sex! LOL Steamy, hot, sweaty sex. The best part of Mayburns writing is that the sex is NOT gratuitous. Its does not play out like a bad 90's porn. The sex is absolutely VITAL to the story. Without the sex, the novel would have a lot less meaning.

"Mayburn" should be on the lips of every Erotic Romance readers mouths. If not whispered with awe, certainly gratitude. Gratitude for a time well spent.

Shoshanna Evers

While on Twitter one day I came across a "new to me" author Shoshanna Evers and OMG her books looked right up my alley and so I had to investigate more. Let's just say I have been happy with what I have found...

Have you read Shoshanna Evers yet?
Do you Like BDSM?
Spanking, Bondage, even a Cowboy thrown in for good measure... this is an author to take a look at.

So let me introduce you to  Shoshanna Evers...

Shoshanna EversAbout Shoshanna:
Critically-acclaimed, multi-published romance author Shoshanna Evers writes for Ellora’s Cave, The Wild Rose Press, Cleis Press, and Berkley/Jove, as well as becoming an Amazon Erotica Bestseller, #1 Amazon Authorship Bestseller,  #1 Erotica Writing Reference Bestseller, Romance Writing Bestseller and Writing Skills Bestseller with her self-published books. Her favorite thing to do is cuddle up with a good book…and her husband. Shoshanna lives with her family and two big dogs in sunny Florida.

Thanks for having me here, Dawn!

So I decided to switch things up a bit and write FemDom erotic romance (my previously published books are mainly MaleDom). By the way, if you’re interested, you can check out my book list sorted by category here: http://shoshannaevers.com/books
Many readers have asked me how I can switch from writing male Doms with female subs to a Dominatrix with a male sub. What I found is that since I understand why a couple might desire a Dominant/submissive relationship, it was easy for me to get into Blake’s head as the male submissive, and even easier to get into Mistress Victoria’s head as the Dominatrix! (shhh, don’t tell hubby!)
I loved thinking up all sorts of devious punishments for naughty Blake, but what I hope shines through the series arc is that ultimately, this is a romance. What starts off in Novella One, SPANKED, as an unexpected encounter becomes much more as both Blake and Victoria discover they have feelings for each other that can’t be pushed aside no matter how kinky things get...and yes, they get kinky. That’s why the blurb comes with a warning!
Dominatrix Fantasy Trilogy Set: Spanked, Denied & Collared

Here’s the blurb for The Dominatrix Fantasy Trilogy Set:
The Dominatrix Fantasy trilogy set includes FemDom BDSM novellas SPANKED, DENIED, & COLLARED and the bonus short story TAPE. Follow Blake and Victoria as desire and lust turn into true love...with a collar. Warning: this trilogy set contains adult spanking, anal play, numerous punishments and very kinky sex, including hot f/f/m ménage sex as well as f/m and m/m sex. There are handcuffs, sex toys, paddles, and silicone spike-lined male chastity belts involved. Consider yourself warned, this series is XXX-rated! These are adults-only erotic romance stories from Amazon Erotica Bestselling author Shoshanna Evers. Sexily *Evers* After...ShoshannaEvers.com.
Trilogy set: AmazonSmashwordsB&N

If you want to read an adults-only excerpt from SPANKED, the first novella in the trilogy, you can find it here (below the more detailed blurbs for each novella): http://shoshannaevers.com/dominatrixfantasy/

Erin Nicholas interviews the Bradfords

Just My Type (Bradfords, #3)Just Right (Bradfords, #1)
Today we have Erin Nicholas on the blog today interviewing a few of her favorite men from her Bradfords series. So I won't keep you any longer than I have to... enjoy the interview  :)

Just Like That (Bradfords, #2)

It’s been two years since the first Bradford books were written.  In those books we got to know Jessica, Ben, Sam, Danika, Sara and Mac.  And Kevin and Dooley.  Those two guys were a huge part of those books and yet, we didn’t get to really know them.  Not like we wanted to.  We know that they’re funny, can give as good as they get when the guys are joking around, and also have big hearts—they help at the Bradford Youth Center, help take care of Katherine and her friends, and are part of the best paramedic crew in the city—just like the others.  But they’re a bit of a mystery aren’t they?  We know Dooley is a goof-off and Kevin goes to church every Sunday, but who are they really?

Well, I’m happy to report that these boys finally found the right girls.  Not that it was easy.  But I had the pleasure of getting to know them both a lot better… and ended up totally charmed.

Recently, I told Dooley that there are a lot of women out there who’d like to know what makes him tick.  Being Dooley, he was intrigued and agreed to sit down with me and answer some questions.  Which was great.  But, of course, it didn’t go exactly according to plan…

Dooley agreed to meet me in one of the conference rooms at St. Anthony’s hospital for a few minutes before his shift on the paramedic crew starts.  But just as we were getting started, the other guys joined us…

Sam:  Oh, dammit.
He rewraps his sandwich and slides it down the table to Mac.
This one has jalapeños on it.  Yuck.
Mac lifts edge of the bread on the sandwich he had in front of him.
Mac:  Yeah, this one’s got the sweet onion sauce.
He pushes it to Kevin.
Kevin shrugs.
Kevin: Mine tasted fine.
He wads up the empty wrapper.
Sam:  Hey, that one was mine.
I’m definitely distracted by all of this.
Me: What kind do you like?
Sam:  I like a little bit of everything.
He winks.  I’ll never get tired of him doing that, by the way.
Sam: Just like with women.
Mac chuckles.
Mac:  And like I like things spicy and Kevin likes things sweet.
Kevin: I can handle jalapenos.
Now he even winks at me.
Trust me.
Um, wow.
Mac: Yeah, Kev, Dooley mentioned that you might have a little jalapeno in your past.
He picks one off the sandwich and pops it in his mouth.
Wanna tell us about her?
Kevin shifts on his seat and clears his throat.
Kevin: It was a long time ago, man.
Sam:  But she was definitely jalapeno-level?
Now they’re all leaning in, watching Kevin.  He gives a little smile.
Kevin:  Oh, yeah.  But more like jalapeno-strawberry jam—sweet with just enough kick to keep things interesting.
His eyes are on his soda can, like he’s seeing something entirely different—or someone.
Actually, it was even more like when you think you’re picking up straight strawberry jam and then you take a big mouthful and get a hot surprise with it.
I look around at the guys and they’re all staring at Kevin, mouths open.
Kevin looks around.
Kevin: What?
Sam:  Very nice analogy, buddy.
He salutes with his soda can.
Mac clears his throat.
Mac:  Yeah.  I think we’re all totally clear on this girl.  Whoever she is.
Dooley:  And when you say “mouthful” you’re referring to…
Kevin: You met Morgan at that casino night fundraiser we went to, right, Dooley?
I’m on the guys’ side here… I want to know more about this woman that has Kevin looking like that, but he clearly wants to change the subject.
Me: A fundraiser?
Dooley gives Kevin a knowing look, then turns to me.
Dooley:  Yep. Ben gave Kev and me the tickets.  And yes, I do look great in a tux.
Oh, I knew that Dooley could pull off a tux.
Me:  Do you remember when you first saw Morgan?
Dooley grins.
Dooley:  Her hair.
Me: Excuse me?
Dooley:  That was the first thing I noticed.  Her hair.  It’s this amazing red color, with gold strands.  It practically glows in the sunlight.  Especially in the morning when the sun is first coming through the window and she’s lying next to me in bed.  When I run my fingers through it it’s like a cascade of color.  And it’s so silky, and thick.  I love how it smells too.  And how it feels against my face, and my gliding over my chest and over my…
Suddenly he looks up, realizing that he’d been going on and on… and that his friends are watching with a combination of surprise and amusement.
Mac:  Well, don’t stop now for god’s sake.  You love how it feels gliding over your…
Dooley:  Elbows.
Sam bursts out laughing.
Sam: Dude, you’re doing something wrong if the most erotic thing you’re feeling her hair on is your elbows.
Dooley:  I didn’t say it was the most erotic place.
Sam:  Okay, then what’s the most erotic place?
Dooley glances at me.  I certainly don’t mind hearing the real answer to this question.
Me:  Don’t mind me. It’s an honest question.
Dooley has a mischievous grin on his face.
Dooley: The same place that Mac loves to feel Sara’s hair.
Mac and Sam both sit up taller.
Sam:  Um, no, don’t go there.
Mac:  Don’t pull me into this.
Kevin:  His throbbing shaft.
He glances around the table.
There’s a pause, then they all throw wadded up sandwich wrappers at him.
Mac:  I can’t believe you just said that.
Sam:  Seriously?
Kevin grins
Kevin:  Hey, I didn’t say cock, did I?
They all whoop with delighted laughter.
Dooley turns to me.
Dooley:  It’s a good interview if you can get Kevin to say ‘cock’.
It’s a good day any time I get to hang out with these guys.
Me:  I think I have some good stuff here, guys.
Dooley:  You don’t have any questions like boxers or briefs?
Me:  Oh, I think I’m just going to let everyone continue imagining you guys without anything on at all.
Looking around the table, all the guys are looking at me with wide eyes.
Grinning, I gather my papers and push back from the table.
Me:  Wow, I think it’s a good interview if I can make all of you speechless at one.
God knows “speechless” and these guys don’t get together in the same sentence much.
I stand and give them all affectionate smiles.
Thanks for everything guys.
Sam:  Oh, honey, we all know that we’re the ones who should be thanking you.  For everything.
Me:  Like the butter? I look at Sam. And the flavored body powder?  This I direct to Mac. And the hot fudge sundae? I ask Dooley.
Dooley looks around the table and they all smile at each other and then at me.
Dooley:  All of that.  And for giving us the loves of our lives.
Aw, crap.  They always succeed in making me laugh, making me blush and then choking me up.
Me:  My pleasure guys.
I say it with absolute heartfelt sincerity.  Just as I open the door, I turn back.
Oh, and Kevin, don’t worry… I have some big plans for you too.
Kevin:  I’m hoping so, Erin.  I’m really hoping so.
Sam calls out as I step through the door.
Sam:  Hurry up already!  I can’t wait to see who’s the perfect woman for Kevin.
Oh, yeah, this is going to be fun.  As it always is with these guys.  I blow kisses all around and leave with a grin that lasts the rest of the day.

Check out the first three installments of the interview with the guys!

Or can they?
That’s the question that’s making them nervous. Very nervous…
Warning: This Bradfords series epilogue contains six meddling friends, two sworn bachelors and a bunch of crazy set-ups.  It’s also a sneak peek at the next two books where Kevin and Dooley do find true love…without any help from their friends.

Just for Fun (Bradfords, #4)There’s having fun… And then there’s falling in love.
The Bradfords, Book 4
It was a chance meeting, a spontaneous, hot moment, a never-to-be-repeated encounter. So when the gorgeous redhead he knows only as Sugar walks into the bar and heads straight for him, Doug “Dooley” Miller knows he’s in trouble. But he’s sure not going to mind.
She needs a date to some swanky something-or-other. He’s a fish-sticks-and-denim guy, but for a woman who’s not afraid to get naughty in an elevator, he can stand a couple days of smoked salmon and Armani.
Morgan James admits she doesn’t really know Doug, but she needs him to keep her mind—and hands—off her ex. A man who, despite the fact he stole her ideas, she’s afraid could charm her into repeating her mistakes. Only Doug can make her forget the weasel exists. Besides, it’s just this one time.
What started as not even a one-night stand has Dooley feeling things that he’s never felt before.  And that’s outside of the bedroom.  Don’t even get him started on what’s happening between the sheets.  Why does he have a feeling that, as far as flings go, they’re doing something wrong?  Then again, if they’re falling in love, they might just be getting that right.
Warning: Contains a woman who knows what she wants, a man who knows what he doesn’t want, and a proposition that shows them both that they’ve never really wanted anything like this before.

And yes, Kevin does get his story!  October 2012!

Leave a comment or a question (for Erin or the guys
and get entered to win!
Winner gets their choice of the first three books in
The Bradford series in any e-format!

Clockwork CaptiveBlurb ~

Enslaved in a gentlemen's club by her father's debt and branded by the clockwork piercing at her throat, Liza Flaherty knows she has few options.

Until the night she recognizes Brace Howell...

From the instant Brace sees a photograph of Liza at the club, he knows he must possess her, though he has no idea a secret binds them together.

When they meet, he sees her scars from sex marred by violence, but he has sexual healing in mind. He has one goal, to rescue the captive and make her
his forever.

Review ~

Brace is expecting to spend some of his hard earned money at the gentleman's club gambling with some friends, but plans change and he winds up in the brothel rooms with the beautiful Celeste. This is not something Brace does and when he sees her treatment (imprisoned by a clockwork collar and force to have sex with random men to pay off her father's debt) he feels an immediate need to help her.

Poor Celeste has basically been held a sex slave by a clockwork collar pierced through her skin. Both fear there is no luck in freeing her from this prison until Brace talks to his inventor friend Jonathan.

I grabbed this book when I saw someone tweet about it being free on Kindle and I am so happy I did!! It's a super cute quick read with steampunk elements, tenderness, likable characters, and fun sex scenes.

Bernadette Marie ~ Cart Before The Horse ~ Review

Cart Before the Horse

Release date: September 30, 2011
Length: 249 Pages
BUY IT HERE: Amazon, B&N

Sometimes happily ever after doesn't start with "first comes love."

Gabriel Maguire thought he'd buried his past until the night he met Holly, only to lose the woman he cared about, again.

Holly Jacobs has always put the cart before the horse. A prodigy who shot to stardom in textile design, she never knew a normal life—and there's nothing she longs for more than to be normal.

Pregnant before she even knows the name of her baby's father, Holly has put the cart miles ahead of the horse this time. But when she and Gabe meet for the second time, they decide to have their baby together. Holly finally begins to accept her unique way of doing everything backward, but Gabe's very normality drives her up the walls. Then his tragic past rears up; pain and loss threaten to destroy forever the fragile bond that has blossomed between him and Holly.

Sometimes the only way to get where you need to be is to put the cart before the horse.

Review ~

Have you ever come across a book that you started reading and just couldn’t manage to put down? … Wanted to zip through the book like a speed-reader, but didn’t want the story to end?  That’s exactly what happened for me with Cart Before the Horse by Bernadette Marie.  I’ve definitely found a new (to me) author whose books will be on auto-buy status.  Her writing style is beautiful; a true pleasure to read.  Her characters are well-developed, very relatable, funny and compassionate.  I could go on and on, but am more anxious for you to pick up this story and dive in like I did.
Prodigal Holly is a no-nonsense, talented, professional woman working as a textile designer who ends up pregnant after a one night stand with Gabriel Maguire.   Two months go by without seeing him until she seeks him out to plop this bit of news on his lap.  Gabe’s character was oftentimes heart melting.  His past trauma could cause him to react either way (accepting/denying) in response to Holly’s news of being pregnant.  While his reaction may seem to good to be true, I was looking for a sweet romance and got exactly what I wanted out of this story.   I enjoyed seeing them develop throughout the story, overcoming their individual fears and hang-ups.
Bernadette Marie definitely accomplished writing a feel-good romance with an HEA, which I thoroughly enjoyed and hope you will too.  I found her writing style to be very clear with an easy to follow rhythm and engaging dialogue.

Beth Williamson and her inspiring vaction + Contest

I recently completed a two week vacation in the lovely country of Portugal. Being a huge history buff, visiting Europe and its rich culture was like eating a bowl of my favorite ice cream. Delicious and satisfying.

Portugal is a country of passion. From their food, to their culture, to their pride in their country, there isn't anything they don't do with gusto.

I was inspired to write a rich, lush story bout a husband and wife who rekindle their marriage with a trip to Portugal. They would go to Algarve, the southern region on the Atlantic with beautiful beaches and deliciously rich food.

Oh yes, there was so much to inspire, I almost lost track of what I was doing. LOL.

I would be sure to mention the seagulls, or as my friend John calls them, the "roosters" of Algarve. But hey, my hero and heroine could wake up early and get busy on the beach in the morning, right? ;)

Days were long and lazy. Sleeping until 9:30 or 10:00, eating a rich breakfast outside on the patio with the sun on me. Plucking fresh plums from the trees in the backyard and eating them as the fresh juice ran down my chin and the hiss of the sprinklers hit the warm air.

I am the type of writer who is inspired by everything and anything. Portugal was almost TOO much inspiration. Everything I saw gave me ideas for my story, from the beautiful tiled roofs to the cabanas on the beach and the umpteen ice cream stands. (I ate WAY too much ice cream, yum.)
It was like having a succulent, delicious, multi-course meal. One bite at a time coating your mouth until your belly cries for mercy. We had such meals in Portugal, lasting a couple hours, amazing. And yes, inspiring.

Everything was so rich, I was on a high the entire two weeks. I think I can still feel the sand on my feet and the sun on my face.

I need a title for the story I'm writing. It will be a novella and it needs a name worthy of such a lush and beautiful place. Any ideas?

Let's help Beth Wiliamson come up with a title for this inspired book!

One lucky commenter will win their choice of  either Mathew, Brody, or Gideon in print.

*Be sure to leave an email contact, winner will be chosen on Aug. 3rd.
Circle Eight Series (writing as Emma Lang)
Circle Eight: Matthew A man learns to hold what is his…
It is a vast spread in the eastern wilds of the newly independent Republic of Texas, the ranch their parents fought for … and died for. To the eight Graham siblings, no matter how much hard work or hard love it takes, life is unthinkable without family…
In the wake of his parents’ murder, Matthew Graham must take the reins at the Circle Eight. He also needs to find a wife in just thirty days, or risk losing it all. Plain but practical, Hannah Foley seems the perfect bride for him . . . until after the wedding night.
Their marriage may make all the sense in the world, but neither one anticipates the jealousies that will result, the treacherous danger they’re walking into, or the wildfire of attraction that will sweep over them, changing their lives forever.
THE CIRCLE EIGHT: BRODYA year after their family was brutally torn apart, the Graham siblings begin to put their lives back together at their ranch in East Texas. With their parents gone, their bonds will truly be tested…
Olivia Graham has worked hard to take care of her family at the Circle Eight Ranch. But their family circle was broken when their young brother Benjy disappeared. Liv can’t shake the feeling that he must be out there, somewhere.
Brody Armstrong, a handsome but rough-around-the-edges Texas Ranger, has been working on their case for months, and now he has a promising lead.
As Liv follows him across the rugged Texas landscape and into Mexico, she’ll begin to find the answers she needs—as Brody finds a passion he didn’t know he wanted…

Devil's on Horseback Series (written as Beth Williamson)
Devils on Horseback: Gideon
Handing over the reins is hard. Handing over his heart…damn near impossible.
Devils on Horseback, Book 5

Gideon Blackwood is on the run—from Tanger’s meddling matchmakers. With no intention of following the rest of the Devils down the aisle, he heads for the hills to reassess a life spent leading and caring for others…and runs smack into the business end of a shotgun. At the trigger: a curmudgeonly woman with a broken axle and a load of responsibility.
In Chloe Ruskin’s experience, men take what they want and leave a mess of trouble behind. The safety of two orphans and her granny is at stake, and the last thing she needs is Gideon’s “help”. This time, though, she has no choice but to allow the big cowboy to fix her wagon.
As they work into the night, grudging admiration grows into attraction—and desire. Gideon finds he can’t dig his boot heels in hard enough to avoid falling for the opinionated little female.
When Chloe’s family disappears, her suspicion threatens to destroy any spark of love before it catches fire. Gideon finds himself making promises his pride won’t let him break—even if it costs him the love of the woman who owns the missing half of his soul.
